Our Programmes

Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM)

We prepare students for examinations as part of the internationally recognized Royal Conservatory Examinations Certificate Program. The curriculum spans eleven grades; beginning with the preparatory level and culminating with the ARCT (Associate of the Royal Conservatory) diploma level. The Royal Conservatory is Canada’s largest and oldest arts educator.

Kelly Kirby

The Kelly Kirby program is a special approach to music for students 4 to 8 years old. We offer this program to our youngest students, laying the strong foundation necessary for later success in the study of music.

Piano Pedagogy

We offer training and preparation for the Royal Conservatory Piano Pedagogy Certificate Program at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. (Written and Viva Voce Examinations)

Recitals

Students participate in two annual recitals, at Christmas and prior to the summer holidays. We also offer a variety of other informal and formal performance opportunities to our students throughout the year, allowing them to showcase their musical abilities and hard work. Additionally, our students are frequent performers at seasonal events including the annual Christmas Fair at the Hycroft Mansion, and can often be found volunteering their time by performing at local seniors’ homes.

Festivals & Competitions

We encourage our students to participate in local musical festivals and competitions including the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, Richmond Music Festival, Burnaby Clef Music Festival, and Festival on the Lake, among others. Our students are frequently recognized at festivals for their musicianship and achievement.

International Music Exchange Program

Having established a strong relationship with the Clara Schumann Music School in Düsseldorf, Germany, we have developed a reciprocal exchange program. Students travelled to Germany for the first time in 2007 to participate in master classes and performances. Three years later, Piano Forte Music School hosted a group of talented students from Düsseldorf here in Vancouver. We have been invited to return to Germany, and are in the process of planning a second exchange in 2014.

In-home Lessons

We are happy to offer in-home lessons to our students for an additional cost.
